Visit Us

Our Location

Luther King Centre is situated on Brighton Grove, approximately 2 miles from Manchester City Centre. We are within our own gardens, and our site includes a private quad-garden, suitable for lunches, classes, or quiet contemplation. Transport links to the college are frequent, with the main bus route to and from Manchester situated 2 minutes walk from us, to Wilmslow Road. Our main train stations are Manchester Oxford Road and Manchester Piccadilly (both approximately 15-20 minutes away by bus) and shopping in Fallowfield is also only a short journey.

If you have never been to Luther King Centre, the best way to get to know us is to visit! You will always be welcome – though if you want the opportunity to look around our site and to discuss the possibilities for study here, it is helpful to book an appointment with our Registrar. You can contact us in any of the following ways, either to arrange a time to come or to ask any questions you may have.

By Road

From M60 (anticlockwise)

Leave the motorway a J5 and travel towards Manchester on A5103 (Princess parkway). After about 2 miles turn right onto A6010 (Wilbraham Road). After a further mile turn left onto A6010 (Wilmslow Road). Brighton Grove is the 5th turning on the right. If you hit the shops, you've gone too far.

From M60 (clockwise)

Leave the motorway at J5, sliproad takes you onto the A5103 (towards the airport). Take the 1st exit and turn right (this will take you under the A5103). Turn right again back onto the A5103 (now heading towards Manchester). Follow as for M60 anticlockwise.

From M6 (northbound)

Turn off at J19 and take A556 (towards Manchester). Follow signs for Manchester M56. At J3 follow signs for A5103. Turn off and follow A5103 past M60 turn off. Follow directions as for M60 anticlockwise.

By Bus

From Piccadilly Station: On the main concourse of the station, turn right at the exit onto London Road and continue walking along the street for 5-10 minutes until you reach Portland Street. Here you will have reached Piccadilly Gardens within the City Centre and you will find the main bus and tram links on your left. From Piccadilly Gardens, you will need to catch any bus route with the numbers 40 or 140 (eg. 41, 42, 43, 141, 142, 42X). Once on the bus you will need to alight opposite ‘Platt Fields’ (driver destination). The journey takes approximately 20 minutes, but can take up to 30 minutes in heavier traffic. Nearing the end of your bus journey you will pass through Rusholme/The Curry Mile and also a large white building on your left, previously called ‘Hardy’s Well’ (the sign is still visible on the side of the building). At this building, you will need to alight at the next stop. At the bus stop, walk along Wilsmlow road, with Platt Fields Park on your right and, on your left, a large white building, opposite the main gates of the park. Turn next left onto Brighton Grove. The drive/entrance to Luther King Centre is 120 yards along Brighton Grove on your left. From Manchester Oxford Road: Walk down from the main exit of the station and cross over to the bus stops outside the Manchester Palace Hotel. From here, you will need to catch one of the buses listed above. Once on the bus, follow the same directions as above.

By Train

The nearest rail stations are Manchester Oxford Road and Manchester Piccadilly. Both stations have excellent national links, and Manchester Piccadilly also has links with the city-wide tram service. From the train stations, you can follow the directions above to continue your journey on public transport. Taxis are available from both stations, with taxi ranks situated directly outside the main station concourse.
